Building Plot For Sale

There are a lot of things to consider when constructing your own brand new house. The first thing you need to find is an adequate building plot for sale. This is not always easy. Land can be very expensive even if it isn’t up to speculation in the city or town where it is located. Careful planning and research are valuable when undertaking such a task.

When we first started looking for land through our real estate agent we soon began to rethink construction from scratch. Finding a good building plot for sale seemed impossible for our budget. If we found a good piece of land we were usually disappointed to learn that you couldn’t build on the property or that there was no well or septic system available on the property.

After looking at one building plot for sale that had great promise but even a greater price tag we decided to go another route. Sometimes a good building plot will be more expensive than a run down house. You can always choose to buy an older home and build another on the property. We thought that that was a good idea at the time.

When it came time to break ground we had to cut through all of the red tape that the township instills in each building plot for sale. The house on the property is a real handyman’s special but we bought four acres for next to nothing. Most of the land is old farmland that isn’t currently in use. We thought that it was the best building plot for sale in the entire township.

That is until we applied for a builder’s permit to begin constructing the new structure. Unfortunately this building plot for sale was so cheap because you really couldn’t put a new structure on it. The land is only zoned for one residential home. You can’t subdivide on the property.

We were planning on living in the old farm house while the new home was being erected but our plans fell through. Now we have to decide whether we want to restore the house or whether we want to tear it down and build new. The problem with the latter scenario is we would have to find a place to live during construction.

When considering which building plot for sale is best for you make sure that you look into all of the details about the property. Zoning laws in the town may be the best place to start.
